Services for Older Workers
More and more employers are seeking older workers for their experience and dedication to the workplace.
To help sharpen your skills and prepare for a job change or return to the workforce, there are several programs designed for the older worker.
One-Stop Career Centers – These local centers/offices provide employment resources, including specialists that know the labor market and can help in your job search. (Now called WorkSource Centers)
CalJOBSSM – This automated system helps facilitate the match between a job seeker and an employer. It allows the job seeker to review job orders in occupational and geographic areas in which they want to work. Job seekers can enter their résumés for employers to read. With CalJOBSSM you make the choice to seek full-time, temporary, or part-time work when you need it. Experience Unlimited Job Clubs are sponsored by the Employment Development Department, Job Clubs are self-help, networking organizations for technical, managerial, sales, and executive job seekers. All levels of re-employment services are available. Job Clubs serve primarily those who are age 40 and over. Free Networking groups run at WorkSource Center. Networking with others, guest speakers and resources .
California Department of Aging serves as both a unifying force for services to seniors and as a focal point for federal, state, and local agencies that serve the elderly in California. It fulfills the goals outlined in the Older Americans Act and also acts as an advocate for seniors by striving to develop an environment which respects and values the State’s older residents.
